Hmmm...

Here I am again... creating a new post. I redesigned the look of this blog. It's still not quite right, but it's closer. And I found out that somebody already snagged the domain name hellomongolia.com. I'm still looking for a name. I'd like to thank Kathryn for commenting on my very first post. Thanks for the support. Well, I don't really have anything else to... oh, wait.

Yesterday my Mongolian tutor Chimgee called to tell me that she found me an apartment. I'll have a roommate. Her name is Itgelt and she's a retired professor. She taught Mongolian language and some English at NUM. This morning Chimgee told me that Itgelt wants to cook for me. How lovely!

I also found out yesterday that my visa should come on Friday. Thank goodness.

More good news... I sold my car today! For $780! Wonderful. The motorcycle is next. Know anybody who's looking for a hot, little bike? Well, I've got one looking for a new home.

While we're on the subject of looking for a new home, I still need someone to foster my two sweet cats. If I had a digicam, I'd post photos of them here, but I don't yet. Gotta get on that.

So... this is it.

I'm blogging. Why? I leave for Mongolia in roughly thirteen days and I want YOU to be able to read about my experience of living there for a year, translating Mongolian poetry into English, becoming part of a sangha and volunteering as a writer and editor for the UB Post, among other things. I'm thoroughly excited. About going to Mongolia, not necessarily about blogging.

Well, I'm off to see Thee Silver Mt Zion Memorial Orchestra and Tra-La-La Band at the Varsity. Trying to get my music fix before I go.
